Gharmi Dada: Captivating Hiking Destination In Pokhara

Gharmi Dada is one of the popular hill stations in Pokhara. It is situated at an altitude of 1470 meters above sea level. Similarly, it is located about 10.3 kilometers from Pokhara Domestic Airport. Generally, it is one of the best-hiking destinations in Pokhara. In addition, lots of people prefer to go cycling and have a picnic in Gharmi Dada.

Generally, the name Gharmi is derived from Gharmi village, which is situated at the top of the hill. It is a typical Brahmin village, made up of about 80 houses. The main occupations of the locals are agriculture and animal husbandry.

Attractions of Gharmi Dada

Gharmi Dada is one of the best scenic viewpoints in Pokhara. There is a beautiful view tower, from where you can have a panoramic view of the Pokhara valley to the south and the mesmerizing scenery of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Machhapuchhre, and Mt. Annapurna IV to the north.

Similarly, a breathtaking view of beautiful hills such as Sarangkot, Armalakot, Bhalam Dada, and Kali Lekh, and enchanting scenery of villages and terrace farming can be seen from the summit.

Hiking Trails At Gharmi Dada

Basically, there are several routes to reach the summit of Gharmi Dada. Overall, there are 5 different routes to get to the destination, including both roadways and hiking trails. The hiking trails to Gharmi Dada are listed below.

  1. Lamachaur

Lamachaur is a beautiful town situated in the lap of Gharmi Dada. It is one of the largest towns in Pokhara city. Lamachaur is divided into two wards, ward-16 and ward-19. Similarly, Gandaki Boarding School, which is one of the renowned high schools in Nepal, is also situated in Lamachaur.

Generally, there are two routes from Lamachaur to the summit. However, both routes are used equally by the hikers. The first route is the roadway, which is the main road of transportation to reach Gharmi Dada.

The other route is a stone-paved stairway that passes through the dense forest. The hiking trail is well-managed, and many dustbins are placed at various locations along the route. Generally, it takes about 35 minutes to reach the summit both ways.

2. Mahendra Cave

Another route to reach the summit is located near Mahendra Cave. In fact, Mahendra Cave is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Pokhara. It is mostly crowded with local and Indian tourists.

The hiking trail from Mahendra Cave has recently been reconstructed. The hiking trail passes through a beautiful pine forest. It takes around 50 minutes to reach the summit from Mahendra Cave.

Moreover, there is a newly constructed road a few meters away from Mahendra Cave, which leads to the summit. The starting point of the road is on the way to Jaimuri.


The best time to visit Gharmi Dada is from July to September. Moreover, there are several tea shops in Gharmi Dada, where you can take a rest. However, there are no accommodations around the area.

Generally, people like to visit the destination to get a view of the sunrise. Therefore, it is mostly crowded in the morning. In addition, you do not have to pay to enter the view tower.

Similarly, you can continue your journey from Gharmi Dada to Dhiki Dada. In fact, Dhiki Dada is also one of the major tourist destinations in Pokhara. Basically, it takes around 40 minutes to reach Dhiki Dada. Recently, a new resort has been established in Dhiki Dada, which is worth seeing.

You can take a local bus from Bagar Chowk, which will take you to Lamachaur within 20 minutes. Bagar is about 6.2 kilometers away from Pokhara Domestic Airport.
